As if the excitement of the Tees Long Distance Sculls and Small Boats Head on Saturday 8th October wasn't enough, Sunday 9th had more to deliver when we officially welcomed home our Paralympic Gold Medallist Laurence Whiteley along with Mayor Councillor Ken Dixon and attending members of both the local television and newspaper press.

After cheering Laurence into the building under an arch of blades held by the Junior Squad,  speeches were held on the RTWC balcony and presentations made between  Councillor Dixon, Club President Kate O'Sullivan, Laurence's former coach Greg Beswick and first training partner Caroline Macdonald, and our Paralympic Champion himself. Photo opportunities came immediately after, followed by cake and cream scones for all those present, including the club members gathered in front of the boathouse to see and hear proceedings.

A great day was had by all - bring on Tokyo 2020!
