Tees athletes qualified their respective boats for next year's Olympic Games in Rio, at the World Rowing Championships in Aiguebelette, France. Both Kat Copeland (Women's Lightweight Double Sculls) and Laurence Whiteley (Trunk and Arms Mixed Double Sculls, Para event) won Silver medals with their respective crew members in very close races. Copeland and Charlotte Taylor were a mere one second behind the New Zealand crew, while Whiteley was even less behind the reigning Para World Champions Australia. What made his result even more impressive was the fact that his partner Lauren Rowles has only been training with him for the last six months and this was her first international event. Kristina Stiller, in the GB Women's Quadruple Sculls, just missed out on qualifying her boat amongst some very strong competition, but will no doubt be pushing extremely hard at Lucerne next year to get the boat to Brazil.
